What would the church look like at its very best?

It’s easy to feel disappointed with churches right now. It’s hard to know what to do when these feelings persist.

So we begin where Jesus started. Around a table. Tables were places where stories got shared, hungry and thirsty disciples found rest and healing, discovered companionship and learnt how to make change happen. Look through the gospels and you’ll find that the disciples asked questions, discovered their differences, and encountered their purpose around tables.

The Network offers a table where people can learn how to make their churches better by developing generous minds, abundant hearts and effective hands. It’s a place where new connections are forged and curiosity stimulated among generous Christians who are eager to participate in God’s work of new creation.

So if you feel disconnected, disregarded, disrespected or unwelcome because of your questions or doubts, don’t just be a tourist. Pull up a chair. Sit down. Join in. Let’s make a different story.

Our plans for 2024

As Network we are always seeking to listen, organise and act together. We combine in-person events, online meetings, special events, study groups and community engagement.

Our year will be shaped by the theme of exploring God’s table together. Jesus sat at table with his friends and gave them some simple instructions –

34 I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13.34-35)

Consequently, we start with breakfast on the first Saturday each month at Tilley’s Divine Cafe in Lyneham from 9 – 10.30am.

Every second month, we’ll have an online meeting with a writer, activist or academic who can stir our curiosity so that our minds, hearts and hands can grow.

In between we’ll read a book about this theme where everyone will be encouraged to take some practical action to implement their insights within their own church community.
